How it all Began

Throughout her life Mary Lou has enjoyed exploring art in a variety of mediums. As a northwest native she has always been fascinated with the local flora and fauna which is featured in many of her paintings. With each beautiful northwest season she finds fresh inspiration for new paintings.

Artistic Career

After studying graphic design and art at Portland State University, Mary Lou began her career as a graphic designer developing business to business graphics such as logos, presentation folders and sales collateral material for a variety of companies. Relocating to a less populated area with beautiful scenery inspired her to begin painting images of the native plants and animals that inhabit the northwest countryside. Her paintings are timeless and the style is influenced by the botanical images popular during the art nouveau and victorian era.

Mary Lou's Studio

Mary Lou's art studio is filled with paintings in progress. She paints on a variety of surfaces which include porcelain tiles, glass, paper and canvas. Collections of feathers, seeds, moss covered twigs, nests, honeycombs and other found treasures are arranged around the studio and serve as natures props for paintings or are studied during practice drawing sessions. Mary Lou is comfortable designing three dimensional works of art as well as wall art.

Future Plans

In the near future, Mary Lou is expanding her store to include unlimited edition prints, giclee's and notecards which are reproductions of her original paintings. Please check back as you will find these items offered in the online boutique soon.

Mary Lou LaBerge TM is currently adapting her artwork to use on items that can be licensed. Her long range plans include developing partnerships with licensees who manufacture and market artistic products to the wholesale and retail markets.

With abundant enthusiasm Mary Lou looks forward to drawing and painting each day and is living her dream of working as an artist.
