Why purchase hand painted porcelain or glass?
How to check for hand painted vs. decals.
The Painting Process in the Studio These ceramic tiles are hand-painted using an on-glaze porcelain paint and a multi-fire technique that employs the use of an electric kiln to bond the paint to the glaze. Paint is brushed onto the glass or porcelain surface initially using light colors and gradually building up the painting with darker colors eventually adding defining details on the final fire. As each layer of paint is applied, the artwork is fired which bonds the paint permanently to the surface. Each artwork is fired four or five times. The number of firings depends on the complexity of the design. Multiple firings allows the artist to achieve greater depth and fascinating detail unequaled by other mediums. For commission or licensing inquiries contact Mary Lou LaBerge TM at the e-mail address listed below. Certificate of Authenticity.
