Chickens and Roosters…Oh My!

CLASS PAINTING ROOSTERS & CHICKENS
………………………………………………………………………
As many of you know, there is an ongoing class each Tuesday in my art studio. From 1:00pm-4:00pm on most Tuesdays fledgling and advanced artists are painting and and sharing events that are happening in their lives.

HensThis week most of the students are painting roosters or a chicken. Determining the difference between a rooster and a chicken brings up some..ahem.. interesting conversation. :-) :-) :-) There are students who have first hand experience raising chickens. Their information is invaluable to those of us who are not farm savvy. We have discussed how many eggs can be expected from a chicken and what we can do with a surplus of eggs. We study how the comb is formed and how the feathers should be painted. There is discussion about the varieties of chickens and egg colors. Sharing our observations is as important as learning how to paint the details on our subject.

Roses

White Rose 1 wtrs2.jpg

We have been painting miniature roses in class. Each painter used their own design layouts and color choices. Each artist created roses that they plan to frame or they can use the scans of their paintings to make cards or note paper. We are planning to continue painting roses. During the next session we will study large pink and ruby roses. Happy painting!

Classes

In my studio at LaBerge Design, Tuesday is probably my favorite day of the week. Students arrive to learn as much as possible about painting on porcelain and glass. I’m very lucky to have such enthusiastic students. They have just finished painting an Elk in a mountain scene.

You can view the instructions at this link: http://www.porcelainartist.proboards25.com/index.cgi?board=LaBerge. After arriving at this site, click on the Elk in the Cascades link and retrieve the instructions. This easy lesson was successfully painted by the class. Hope you get a chance to paint this lesson and if you have questions, leave a post. Happy painting.
